2009 Leadership Randolph Class Project is As Easy As ABC

Asheboro, NC, October 22, 2009:

Realizing that there are children in our community who cannot financially afford to participate in enriching field trips, the 2009 Leadership Randolph class has established “Adventures Beyond Classrooms” (ABC), a fund to finance field trips for students in Randolph County and Asheboro City Schools.    This announcement was made at the Leadership Randolph graduation Thursday evening.   The 2009 Leadership Randolph Class chose “Defining Leadership” as their theme.  It did not take long for the class to realize that its members had a recurring theme from their careers and interests—the education of children—from which the idea for ABC grew.

Communities in Schools of Randolph County (CISRC), an established non-profit, was a beneficial choice as a partner for the class project.  CISRC will serve as the parent organization for the project and it will become a new program under CISRC.

Class member Jill Vanness (Randolph Electric Membership Corporation) designed the logo for the program.  Jill is a graphic artist in her spare time.

Award criteria and application process will be determined by a committee including three members of the Leadership Randolph Class of 2009 along with other committee members selected by CISRC.  Leadership Randolph County Class of 2009 will host a fund-raising event to support ABC later this year.   Anyone interested in assisting with the project or making a donation may directly contact Communities in Schools, with reference to Adventures Beyond Classrooms (ABC), at 1011 Sunset Ave, Asheboro, NC 27203, 336-625-0008 or by e-mail at
